But I'm back and happy to announce that Duce releases in a matter of weeks. 19 days to be exact!
I'm currently working with my editor to finish the editing.
In the meantime I thought I'd tease you guys a little. :-)
If you visit this blog regularly, you'll know I have a thing for Eduardo Verastegui. All you have to do is check out the right hand bar of this blog for confirmation >>>>>>>>>>
He is the inspiration for Dante Orsino in the World End series. If you don't know who he is, he is a Mexican musician/actor/producer. And my initial inspiration for Carlos was Heath Ledger but as I got to toward the end of the story I needed a more current inspiration. And I soon as I saw Alex Pettyfer it clicked.
So today, I'm showing off my dream cast for Duce as well as a quick teaser. Enjoy.
“I love the
beach. You know, my mum used to take my brother and me when we were boys and we
would play with other kids, building sand castles and playing knights and
dragons.” He shoved his hands into the pockets of his cargo shorts, his eyes
acquiring a faraway glaze.
For a moment, we
stood side by side on the edge of the walkway, listening to the waves crashing
against the grains, the world in motion around our stationary bodies. From the
moment I'd met him and in the little time we'd spent together, he'd always been
energetic, talkative and full of life. So to see him standing still, without my
prompting, there had to be some memory from the past weighing him down.
I wanted to
reach out and take his hand in mine, to reassure him and take away the sadness
the seemed to hover over him. But I was also hyper aware of our location and
the fact that we were visible to prying eyes from all directions.
“I did that too
when I was a boy although I didn’t have a brother,” I said, choosing to lighten
his mood instead.
"No
freaking way, man." He glanced at me and his eyes twinkled with mischief,
his body animated again. “Somehow I can’t picture Mr Dark Dangerous and
Domineering as a boy who played with sand castles. I imagined you came out
fully grown, wearing a tailored silk cashmere suit, a pair of Moro Mon-Strap
alligator skin shoes and sporting a handgun in your back strap.”
He winked at me
before running down toward the shore, his movements playful. I chuckled as tilted
my head to watch him. His observations about me were on the money. Although today I had on a beige linen suit and
crocodile loafers. And my hand gun was hidden
in a strap under my jacket.
He would’ve seen
the hand gun in the hotel room. As a tool of my trade, I rarely went anywhere
without it. Even when I didn’t have business on my mind, I couldn’t get away
from the life I lived.
